Palpatine...
So, what do I like about him?

I've had to think about this to articulate it beyond pure lust. :-)

Well, Palpatine is going to become the Emperor, and that story arc certainly inspires me a hell of a lot more than Anakin's. He's my type of bad guy. No random killings, no thoughtless cruelty: it's all been planned. The fact that he may well be Sidious (same actor, huge resemblance between Sidious and the later Emperor) only adds layers to his character. And I *like* sinister characters with layers.

The Emperor used to scare me as a kid. Sometimes childhood fears turn into adult fascination. Such is the case now.

I like his voice. And I think that Senator Palpatine looks gorgeous, in a way that mixes elegance, grotesque, and suave. I like his smiles, the fake one and the small, real one. Sidious is all shadows. The Emperor is old and twisted but, to quote Francis Bacon, there's no beauty without the wound. I like his confident patience, his taunting, manipulative sense of humour.

He's the most powerful character in Star Wars, and power is the ultimate aphrodisiac, right, ladies? That and the fact that the most sensitive sex organ is the brain... All this intellectual captivation is lovely.

Even if this turns out to be a passing crush, it's quite spellbinding.

...plus, those Force Lightning thunderbolts are peachy keen!
